leader's miracle
Miracle Baby Anna ends a 22 year wait!
For 22 years, Pastors’ Shane and Susan Comiskey have prayed for a child. Now their prayers have finally been answered with the birth of their daughter Anna Margaret at Liverpool Women’s Hospital on the 2nd October 2010.
Even more incredibly, Anna was born only a year after her mother had a year-long ordeal of two operations for thyroid cancer and nuclear medicine that made her “radioactive” for a period.
But all those difficulties are forgotten now as Susan cradles her child at last and weeps tears of joy. Shane affirms that “She really is a miracle, a gift from God, We feel so overwhelmed and so grateful!”
“Liverpool has been so good for us,” says Susan, who originates from Australia while Shane is a New Zealander. “Our family is a Kiwi, a Kangaroo, and a Scouser!”
Shane and Susan arrived in Liverpool in June, 2007 to become Pastors of the ‘Victory Family Centre’ in Eaton Road North, West Derby.
After 22 years of marriage, they were still waiting for the child they dreamed of. "When people asked if we had children, Shane used to tell them that our baby was on order but it hadn't been delivered yet!" says Susan.
Susan said “It was a terrible shock to learn I had cancer but even while I was going through my treatment, I was thinking yet another year was going by without a chance to have a baby.”
Susan finished her treatment in 2009. But in January this year, she started feeling really sick. She immediately wondered if her cancer had spread, especially as the sickness got worse and worse. I wondered . . . and did a pregnancy test. It was positive. I nearly fainted. I did
three tests in the same day and they were all positive but I still wouldn’t believe it until my GP had confirmed it.
“At last we had started the journey we had waited for for so long,” says Susan. “We were both crying. We didn’t tell anyone at first to be sure the pregnancy w ould last. When our church members eventually found out they were delighted and some began knitting little garments for us.”
As she cradles Anna which means God is Gracious, Susan cannot help weeping tears of happiness. “I feel very overwhelmed and very privileged and I am so grateful to Dr Aziz at Liverpool Women’s Hospital and to cancer surgeon Alison Waghorn at the Royal for their help during 2009.
“We never gave up hope that God would answer our prayers one day and I hope our story will be an inspiration to other people who are still waiting for their child. They should continue to hope and seek pray that they too can have their own miracle.”
If you are needing a miracle, the folk at Victory Family Centre would love to pray for you and believe with you for the promises in the Bible.

Miracles and medicine?
"Recently I was interviewed regarding our miracle baby Anna. There was a reference made in the interview to myself undergoing fertility treatment, with the conclusion that Anna’s birth was the result of such. However I want to point out that although I was taking cabergoline, a medication that “can” be used for treating fertility, Parkinson’s disease, menstrual cycle issues and milk production. I was using and had been using this prescription for approx six years as a way of controlling a pituitary gland cyst, and of course hadn’t fallen pregnant over that period.
It is clear in my mind that although medical expertise has been helpful, a miracle intervention by the hand of God caused the conception and birth of our precious daughter".

More about Divine Healing?
At Victory we believe in and practice divine healing. It’s clearly part of the ‘Good News’. The same Jesus that walked the planet over 2000 years ago is alive and active in healing the whole man!
Matthew 8:16-17 tells us that Jesus healed “all the sick”.
Luke 9:1 NIV When Jesus had called the Twelve together, he gave them power and authority to drive out all demons and to cure diseases,
Mark 16:17-18,20 NIV And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues;.....they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well." .....
[20] Then the disciples went out and preached everywhere, and the Lord worked with them and confirmed his word by the signs that accompanied it.
Jesus released the good news of the Kingdom of God on those who were suffering illness. He delivered people and healed the sick by both the power of God and his atoning sacrifice.
It wasn’t long before he mentored his 12 to do the same by empowering them.
But the great news was that he also empowered every believer to do miracles, including laying hands on the sick and imparting healing. But how is it so. I like the Amplified version of the following text . . .
Isaiah 53:4-5 AMP Surely He has borne our griefs (sicknesses, weaknesses, and distresses) and carried our sorrows and pains [of punishment], yet we [ignorantly] considered Him stricken, smitten, and afflicted by God. But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our guilt and iniquities; the chastisement [needful to obtain] peace and well-being for us was upon Him, and with the stripes [that wounded] Him we are healed and made whole.
1 Peter 2:24 NIV He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed.
Healing is a divine exchange, 30 lashes for physical wholeness. At the cross, His weakness, distress, sorrow, loneliness, and afflictions secured our well being. One magnificent transaction unleashed billions upon billions of healings and salvations across millennia. God multiplied his divine healing provision again by empowering believers in the church to dispense this gift.
James 5:14-16 NIV Is any one of you sick? He should call the elders of the church to pray over him and anoint him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise him up. If he has sinned, he will be forgiven. Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.
Victory practice and teach divine healing; That Jesus came to save us and heal our bodies and minds. This is the good news of the Kingdom, “as on earth as in heaven”.
