Why water baptism? Water baptism is the outward acknowledgement that Jesus died, was buried and rose again. Now you live as God intended, through the resurrected power of God in us. Water baptism is not merely a form of meaningless religious ceremony. It is tremendously powerful and something every believer needs to submit to. We see that Jesus did not tell his disciples to make members, he told them to make disciples. A disciple is a pupil, and a follower. The outward evidence of following Jesus is baptism. When a person is baptised they are identifying with Christ’s death, burial and resurrection. It is an outward demonstration of what has already taken place inwardly. Baptism depicts what happens as a result of the Christian’s union with Christ.
Water Baptism is like a burial. You now walk in newness of life. The old life has been left behind or has been buried as you rise from the waters of baptism. Enquiries Baby dedications It's important to dedicate babies and small children to God’s grace and pray for wisdom to parent them well. At Victory we do not baptise infants, but rather have a special time of prayer to dedicate these precious little ones to a life of loving Jesus. Please see the pastors if you wish to have your children dedicated during a Sunday service.
Act 8:34-38 The eunuch asked Philip, "Tell me, please, who is the prophet talking about, himself or someone else?" Then Philip began with that very passage of Scripture and told him the good news about Jesus. As they travelled along the road, they came to some water and the eunuch said, "Look, here is water. Why shouldn't I be baptized?" And he gave orders to stop the chariot. Then both Philip and the eunuch went down into the water and Philip baptized him. When they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord suddenly took Philip away, and the eunuch did not see him again, but went on his way rejoicing.
If it’s good enough for Jesus it’s good enough for me.
